Evans Applauds DOT Audit, Calls on AG to Conduct Criminal Probe, Civil Investigation
10/22/2009
Mike Evans, former GDOT Chairman and 9th District Representative, and current Republican candidate for the 9th Congressional District issued the following statement on the State Auditor's damning report of GDOT accounting practices:
"As Chairman of the DOT Board I personally requested this audit be conducted because things just didn't seem quite right. Those suspicions are now confirmed by the Auditor's report. We were being misled, and I hope the Attorney General will follow up aggressively on this report and conduct either a full criminal investigation or civil investigation."
"There are many good people at GDOT who work tirelessly to serve the people of Georgia. I am proud to have worked with them. These outrageous acts by a select group insult their hard work. There still remains a great need to overhaul and reform DOT. I hope that at a minimum these findings will finally lead to those reforms."
