Government Spending Tax Dollars on New Jobs that Don't Exist

11/25/2009

CUMMING -- Mike Evans, a front runner among Republican candidates in Georgia's 9th Congressional District, said Wednesday the American public is finally beginning to realize President Barack Obama can't be trusted.

"During the campaign, political pundits and talking heads said repeatedly that Americans don't yet know who Barack Obama really is," Evans said Wednesday. "Well, the truth about this president is beginning to emerge. The sad truth is he is a President who can't be trusted."

Evans added that he was appalled to learn of an ABC News report abcnews.com that accused the President's web site of making false claims regarding the creation of jobs in the U.S. The web site, recovery.gov, claims the President's stimulus bill created jobs in congressional districts in Arizona, Oklahoma, Iowa, Connecticut and elsewhere that do not exist. This has also been reported in CNSNews.com.

Georgia has 13 congressional districts. The recovery.gov web site shows Georgia having more congressional districts, with jobs and money going to the nonexistent districts. For example, it shows a '00' congressional district with one job created in an amount of $2,288,376.

"That lie has now been exposed," said Evans, who pointed out this is not the first time the president has misled the American people.
"During the campaign, he promised to negotiate health care reform publicly on C-SPAN," Evans said. "He also pledged to end taxes for seniors making less than $50,000. He has engaged in a pattern of deception that is simply outrageous. It's one reason I've said from the beginning that I'm fed up, but I'm not giving up."

Evans called on voters to stand with him and against the Obama administration. "More than ever, we must elect someone with the strength and courage to stand up to a president who is leading America down a destructive path."
